Diamonds from the Rough

Signs indicating carry distances are very helpful

Fully evident that the property receives great care

Course has a nicely-calibrated difficulty / comfort rhythm to it

Native-vegetation carries occur relentlessly throughout the round

You can putt aggressively here – greens are flat with little acceleration

Not pronounced like Gillian. The sister course is pronounced like Anderson.

Excellent definition between primary and secondary cuts of rough, and fringe and collar

The twin-ponds on different-levels 12th would be famous if it were on the PGA Tour as a par 4

Fairways are carpet-like, but that’s partially because carts are often roped off from them – so grab an extra club or two

Imperative to follow through strongly on your drive at No. 10 – and later make sure you aim at the right green

Survive the dangerous par 5 3rd hole and you should be on your way to a good front 9

Short par 4 16th over schmutz has a couple of more surprises in store for you

Charming little pro shop fits perfectly with the country drive to get there

Consistently tree-lined, but you’ll still use your driver quite a bit

Can fill up on weekends causing consistent back-ups on the tee

Spent blossoms can cover the greens in mid-Spring

Par 3s offer little intimidation until the final one
