Snapshots

Very memorable layout, though also quite short

Greens are consistently pinched by tight trapping

Magic 8-Ball says putt-chip-putt likely in your future

If claustrophobia is a problem, avoid the back tees on No. 2

Bet you didn’t know there were two 9As on this side of the Hudson

Optimal mix of challenging and comfortable holes for a resort course

Fairways are not easy to gain from the tee – often 200 yards from the tips

Not even golf can spoil this walk – though it is strenuous if you’re carrying

Uphill holes generally the most exposed and wind can be punishing on them

Berkshires look downright majestic, strolling down the eighth fairway from the hotel

Holes very separate from one another, with thick banks of trees, escalating hillsides and water providing natural barriers

Back 9 starts with a short par 4 with a very elevated green guarded by four bunkers – one of which might just save your round

The variety of terrain and scenery are just two of the charms of this welcome layout in the heart of the Berkshires

You look at the converted par 3 11th and can only marvel at what it must have been as a par 4

Consecutive par 3s early on the back 9 can put you in the throes of putting woes

A pencil in a compass could almost trace the circumference of the 8th green

5th hole would be a short par 4 if not for the fact that it’s a fearsome par 3

Some very long walks – including from the 18th green to the pro shop

It’s short, but can attack you in multiple other ways

Long, tight, uphill par 4 9th is an absolute demon

Greens can be small and twisty

No. 9 is one tough hombre

Can get a little gnatty
