Diamonds from the Rough

Your first drive of the day is over drivers

Lots of doglegs, but the bends shouldn’t break you

7th fairway is about as wide as a waif and wafer put together

Playable for all levels, but doesn’t surrender easily to low handicappers

Hercules’ over/under to reach the green at the par 5 17th is 2.9. Take the over.

Routing has recently been redone, so keep your head up if you haven’t visited in awhile

Tree-lined fairways give the course a little more length than is indicated on the scorecard

The two finishing holes are wicked – according to both Webster’s and Massachusetts

You’ll get a look at the green en route to the par 3 10th. Memorize it, trap-for-trap.

Three tremendous par 3s on the back, each markedly different from each other

Refreshing coolers never more than a couple of holes away after No. 6

Beware of bunker pong on the par 5 13th when the flag is up

4th green tricks you into thinking it’s hillier that it is

Not exactly tranquil. Not exactly not
