A heads up for all of you that travel to sample new courses, add this one to your list. Gillette Ridge has recently reopened after a renovation. It is a wonderful course to play. Don’t get me wrong, it is challenging and most of us mid to high handicappers will lose a ball or two, but it is worth it. The condition of the course is excellent. Fairways, bunkers and especially the greens are immaculate. The greens are undulating and at times difficult to read but they putt true, no bumping or deviations, and they are a good speed. The course has some surprises if you have not played it before ( as we found out) with some forced carries over waste areas to greens that are difficult to hold, but they have softened the course by removing some bunkers and adding run off areas for our less precise approach shots. The staff at the course are both friendly and helpful, the stater actually giving us some tips for the course. A course to play and enjoy the challenge and not to worry about the score. We will be going back to see if we can master this course. The clubhouse has reasonably priced food and for those of you that like IPA beer, try the Bubonic Chronic IPA.
